After finishing one book about 19 Japanese castles and another one about 100 spots in Japan and the stories that happened to me on those places, it’s time for my third book now.
日本の信仰の場所 – Japanese Places of Faith (German: Japanische Stätten des Glaubens) will feature 175+ DIN A4 pages about famous and globally knows spots like Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu-dera, Kinkakuji (Golden temple) or Ginkakuji (Silver temple) in Kyoto as well a few lesser knows examples like the Shimogamo shrine, which is dedicated to ball games.
But it’s not just about temples and shrines, it’s also about Matsuri (festival), some of them are small and small, just carrying a few mikoshi (portable shrine) around, others are quite unique like the Kanamara Matsuri (“Penis Festival”) in Kawasaki, the Hadaka Matsuri (“Naked Man Festival”) in Okayama or the Onbashira Matsuri where men are “riding” a tree down a hill.
From 2010 to 2022 I’ve visited Japan over 15 times, also staying for 2 longtime periods, thereby I collected and shot 60.000+ photos with my different cameras, those were many different ones like DSLR, mirrorless, Gopro, Inst360, Drone.
My current equipment is a Canon R5 with different lenses, 85mm 1.4, 24-70mm 2.8, 70-200mm 4.0 and a few more for wide angle, Ultra-Macro (5x) as well as a Tilt-Shift-lense.
Please help me making the dream of my third book about Japan and it’s beauty come true.
Thank you and enjoy
