Playing Competitive Geoguessr until I’m ranked 10,000th in the world
As some of you know I’ve only dipped my toe in the world of competitive geoguessr once and my lowly rank of 20,168 reflects that. The question that consequently begs is, can I half that rank and hit the 10,000 mark in one reasonably sized session? or is that just too much to ask in a world of rapidly growing, META embracing players?
Well, I was still a bit rusty going into this, and a lot of the mechanics and strategies that I had managed to learn 6 months ago had now left my brain. This didn’t spot me from pulling some borderline insane guesses out of the hat. The resulting mix made for an absolute rollercoaster ride of emotions. Don’t miss the ending on this one!

Just feeding back on a couple of noteworthy observations in the comment section:
This is quite a choppy video I know. It kind of had to be to fit the whole storyline in. I don't intend on making a habit of releasing videos like this, mainly because there's very little explanation and thought process going in there if nothing else. There will be a more casual play along video early next week to satisfy those needs.
Secondly, some people are intrigued or even confused by the whole 10,000 rank thing – as in wouldn't I be higher than that? Not necessarily! At one point in time I might have been in the top hundred players, but that was years ago. The Geoguessr boom we've seen in the last few years and particularly the last year has changed everything. I reckon If I started to play regularly on competitive mode I'd eventually be able to get further up towards the 2 or 3000 mark, maybe higher. I really don't know. Maybe we'll find out, but unfortunately I can no longer focus all of my time and energy on geoguessr. If I were to go even further and study the META; particularly the camera types and the cars, then it would be a lot higher. As a lot of you know though, I find it far more enjoyable not knowing a lot of that stuff, even if it means losing and not being anywhere near the top dogs.
Hopefully there is still plenty of entertainment to be found in these geoguessr videos. One thing's for sure, I won't be fooled by Midway Island again.
Thirdly – thumbnails. I'm just trialling out these more striking thumbnails to see how they work. The last thing I want to do is alienate my fans, just remember the content is still the same!

This was so entertaining. The round on Midway Atoll had me in fucking stitches. It comes up all the time in duels and the birds are very memorable which is how he knew it.

When I saw those birds and sand and brush but nothing else, I knew it had to be Midway or very likely around there.
bruh tried competitive. it´s more like who googles best in the lower ranks. first round, there is a small lake with a sign with a town name written on it. obviously norwegian. so norway has 65.000 lakes and 8 out of 9 people setting their pin around the exact same small lake in the middle of nowhere. sure. won´t play this game anymore. this is redicolous.

That last island is well known for being almost deserted and having lots of birds just walking around. It wasn't that surprising he knew it.

I've played country BR after it has been released, then never played it again until today. My rankings were super low. Went from #40000 to #9660 with almost no effort in 2 hours. Top 10K is mediocre players tbh. Below the champion division there is barely any challenge in country BR. Not sure about the other game modes, I almost exclusively play no move country streaks only.
