Mougins – Iconic Village in the Heart of the Côte d'Azur | 4K Walk French Riviera

Mougins is a village full of charm located about six kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea, north of Cannes and Le Cannet, and south of Grasse. It is one of the five cities that created Sophia-Antipolis with Valbonne, Biot, Antibes, and Vallauris. The major cities of Grasse, Antibes, and Nice are close to Mougins.

Pablo Picasso became famous thanks to Pablo Picasso. In the summer of 1936, he stayed at the Vaste Horizon hotel in the village. He returned to Mougins several times over a period of two years, but it was not until much later, in 1961, that he settled there permanently, buying the mas Notre-Dame de Vie where he ended his life on April 8, 1973.

  1. Curious to know why so many fruit sculptures, I found the tour deliciously relaxing, full of beauty and peace. I know that Picasso spent part of his life living in Mougins, but the sculptures of fruits, peppers and others is it because Mougins is considered the capital of gastronomy?
