As you British guys say, this interview was "brilliant"! Loved his insight on Pattaya and I agree with him totally. Thailand has changed from depending so much on tourism to a more diverse economy and he's spot on because of how close it is to Bangkok, it's the obvious destination for decades to come. If/when they do put in high speed rail service that cuts the time down, Pattaya will sort of become a "suburb" of Bangkok. And like everything, Pattaya will "grow up" in its diversification of where it derives its economy from. I predict Walking Street will become more main stream for all ages as the adult entertainment moves to other areas. High class resorts and higher class restaurants and activities will replace the agogo bars there along the beach.
If you look at how Bangkok used to be extremely smoggy and most people thought of it as a place to get laid, it has become a world class city, almost like a young Manhattan/New York City with it's brand new rail/transport system, rooftop restaurants and bars, a wide variety of foreign restaurants to choose from and a world renown medical tourism city. Now when you tell friends you're going to Thailand for medical work, they don't think you're going to monger. Only problem is they might think you're gonna get a sex change.
That is the oddest, worst fitting baseball cap I have ever seen.
I've not been back to the UK since I arrived here 17 years ago, and the only thing I miss is the build up to a trip to Thailand (finishing work early, the trip to the airport, a few scoops there, and the flight itself !).

For anyone looking to start a business… there is a gold nugget for you at 7:04. And basically it is advice indirectly stated in the video being to work in the business for someone else to learn the ropes before investing. Sadly… many people working government and corporate jobs save and come with the notion that they can profit from what are very competitive businesses. And I think many people are sincere and with sincere partners but getting into these businesses without knowing how to manage all aspects of the business will likely lead to a disappointing result.

After 22 years away from the UK living in Asia and S.E. Asia, the only things I miss from the UK are The small local pubs and proper Fish n Chips. Things I ABSOLUTELY do not miss are semi- permanent cold grey skies, Cold 24hr drizzle, lack of personal responsibility and the Welfare state.
