In sharp contrast to the tradition laden city it anchors, Kyoto Station is a marvel of modern architecture. Built by the renowned architect Hiroshi Hara, this futuristic-looking station is one of the country’s largest. In addition to being a stop for the Tokaido Shinkansen and express trains from Kansai International Airport, the station is also home to dozens of shops and restaurants. The Tourist Information Center on the second floor has Wi-Fi and provides helpful advice for finding your way through the station and beyond.
