People don’t feel safe anymore in Thailand. News is saying that Thailand has a problem with weapons, drugs, rape and thefts. How do people experience this? We ask some locals and some tourists to get a better understanding of whether Thailand is still safe or not.

  1. THAILAND HAS NEVER BEEN SAFE LOL
YOU GO THERE AT YOUR OWN RISK
    REMEMBER WATCH YOUR BACK
    ALWAYS LOOOOL

  2. 👇Is Thailand still a safe country to live in? Is it safe to travel to? Please let us know what you think 🙏🏼👇

  3. This video is not realistic you ask foreigners who haven’t been there for 5 minutes
Of koorse they think it’s safe
But locals kno it ain’t a joke ppl are broke every1 looking for an opportunity and you might be that opportunity 😅
Many men meet there death over women in Thailand
Many man have fallen off balconies….
Many men have been battered by ladyboys
Many women have been robbed and drugged
Many have died on koh Tao
    Many die on the roads
    Police are corrupt
Your asking foreign man does he feel safe of koorse he does as he has women everywhere 😂
He doesn’t see the bad side until it’s too late
Be careful what you wish for in Thailand

  4. Considering how common guns now are in the US & even Canada, and also how common knife crimes are in the UK & parts of Europe, westerners are far more used to living with the unrest of violence than say Asians.

I had been looking at gun violence and gun crime in Thailand just days before the recent massacre, and here's what I gathered:

~ Thailand has the highest % of gun ownership in all of SE Asia, mostly illegal purchase.
~ Most of the violence is limited to local fights, squabbles, gang runs during seasonal farming of wildlife/nature, and ofc drug cartels.
~ Gun violence/illegal ownership is intrinsically linked to drug cartels, especially trans-country corridors and drug movement. Since Thailand law & order has a rather relaxed approach to drugs compared to other SE Asian countries, it invites a similar slack approach to gun ownership.

Gun ownership is always an iffy subject. So many will vouch for it saying its better to be armed, but global evidence only shows its misuse leads to sole-gunman massacres.

More economic unrest and mental health issues means higher potential for sole-gunman incidents.

  5. Always interesting hearing from everyone in your street chats 😄 – valid points and generally very positive – Thanks Mr Chai 👍🙏

  6. Thanks for the vlog. Our daughter has lived in Chiang Mai for 11 years and feels very safe. We are coming to visit on Sunday (16th) and can't wait. Alan and Lillian in OZ.

  7. I was looking out for you at Tha Phae Gate couple weeks back man. No bald fellow tho. You must've been out microphoning elsewhere.

  8. I think you will find lots of Thai females don’t think it’s a good idea to go out at night alone especially in the villages.

  9. ขอบคุณที่มองเมืองไทยปลอดภัยคนไทยใจดี

  10. First interviewer, Thai lady was selling their country but farang was trying to protect Thailand. LOL

  11. It's good to make a video clip of the Northeast of Thailand. Language, different culture, and beautiful nature.

  12. Hey Chai, this was a really interesting episode. I know it was a little different from the norm but it's important to talk about the good as well as the bad. The one lady from Chiang Mai who said she didn't always feel safe echoed the sentiments of my friend from Chiang Mai (also a lady). I always disagreed with her when she said it can be a very risky place for women but I guess they know better than us. Bottom line: I guess no place is 100% danger free but Thailand is still better than most, IMO. Keep 'em coming!

  13. Good one! News, especially scary news. gets worked up in the media. My tickets are booked and will be there by the end of October. Love how people are saying to live in the moment. You only get so many turns around the sun. Live each one!

  14. "Like, like, like, ……" 🙄 Oy, vey!!! Why was she standing there and bad-mouthing her own country? Bad things happen everywhere. She just needs to be careful how she presents herself & be aware of her surroundings.

  16. excellent job interviewing people, I will be spending a month backpacking around Thailand starting next week so its def. interesting to see people's thoughts, feelings, and perspective. Honestly, I feel like I will probably be safer than I am in the USA but still always important to be aware of your surroundings and think logically.

  17. Thanks for making this video, Chai. I think it's important not to let tragedies like the one that occured in Isan become a source of fear for the citizens as well as potential travelers. I live in the US where we have these kinds of shootings regularly, so I usually feel safer when I'm traveling outside of my country. For instance, I've traveled a few times to South Africa. I heard before I went that it was very dangerous and that I should be careful. My experience was the opposite. What I found was a beautiful country with very kind, welcoming people, abundant wildlife, and no difficulties whatsoever. Maybe I'm lucky, but I've gone a lot of places and I've enjoyed something about all of them! Also, I'm an architect, so I'm looking forward to the treehouse video!

  18. The Land of Smile is not always the Land of Smile. Use your brain and common sense and it will be Safe. 🙏

  19. As a foreigner I think it is very safe here but young Thai women feel much more like your first guest. My wife is very careful about where she goes and what she does.

  20. I am amazed and surprised to hear the first lady's comment as I feel CM is a very peaceful and one of the safest places in TH. However, I haven't visited there since covid. All I can say is that, as a native of Bangkok, I feel very safe living here and almost everywhere in the country (except 3 southernmost provinces). Pickpockettings do occur in some tourist spots and I heard they're mostly committed by people from neighboring countries. After all, I can say Thais regard tourists as our visitors/guests and we always prioritize their wellness and safety. Officials also pay heedful attention to these aspects. Ones that do wrong to the tourists would be normally condemned by people in the society. That's not to say we treat each other differently but just that tourists or guests are highly prioritized in the country. I hope you can already feel it without anybody sayings. PS: As everything here these days is much politicized to some degrees, there's a reminder that CM is the major home base of the opposition party and is the hometown of corruption-convicted ex-PM now in exile. I think people's opinion may differ more or less by the political influence in each area/province too. BTW, I like your street chats very much. It's really interesting and enjoyable. Keep going!

  21. Cheers Chai. Interesting video as always with a good balance of Thais and Tourists interviewed although I think the Thais struggle with getting their message across the way they want to sometimes, especially that first interview, something I battle with regarding the missus even 28 years on 😀. Maybe we both need interpreters at times 😂🤣😂 Nice work champ!! 🤩

  22. I was born and raised in BKK, now moving to Pathumthani, but visiting my parent in BKK regularly. After watching this episode, I am unexpected shocked by the local in CM and that open my eyes about other thoughts a lot because I ‘ve never known that our folk feel like that. For me I ‘ve never felt unsafe anywhere in my country. I’m quite confused now, am I too careless? 😅

  23. Thailand will soon become temptation and sin island/country. There reputation for prostitution/sex,drugs legalizing marijuana, gun ownership etc. will be there downfall. It's sad that it's already part of their culture, it's hard to change the people cause it's tolerated by the government itself. Not the paradise that it used to be.

  24. I have been staying in thailand, it is very safe, maybe the first girl has read a lot of dark side and dramatic news in social since thai media always point out this kind of news. if you have a chance to follow the social media in thailand they always only present the bad side, very rare to see the good or useful news. I think the foreigner can reflex the right things.

  25. Hey Chai, fascinating video! Unbelievable to hear this. Considering that we think Thailand is really safe! Stay a weekend in Amsterdam, you'll know how safe you are.
Very good informative video mate. Stay safe out there. Groeten van ons 💪😎🍻🍻

  26. I have been to Chiang Mai four times and I have felt safe each time. I always feel very welcomed by the locals and it feels like I've come home❤

  27. สวัดดีครับพี่ชัย Just greeting to you and practice practice my English with your VDO. This problem Thai people know. Maybe occurred from less efficiency of Thai government. But Thai people know the roots of Thailand. Next election will change Thailand again.

  28. Nobody should feel 100% safe at any place
    Just be cautious

Crime rate in Thailand is not that high
There is certainly some small crime every day
Murder 4000 a year and decreasing
But Big crime not that much

You don't have to worry that much
If you don't read the news because all they sell is fear
The Fact is Crime rate in Thailand Decrease every year.
