Have an e-sim capable phone? You can get inexpensive data-only plans online. One service to look at is Airalo.
I used Airalo in Singapore and Europe, and it worked well. However, I did need to contact their online customer service chat to configure the cellular settings the first time.
Singapore a good hub for any place so is KL.
