Nearly 36,000 runners hit the streets of the nation’s capital today for the annual Tokyo Marathon, which started at 9 a.m. As in past years, many runners (and even supporters) took the opportunity to wear a funny hat, or mask or even a whole costume. Here are a few of the wacky racers who stood out from the pack near the front gate of Zojoji, a temple standing beneath the iconic Tokyo Tower.
