“The Japanese People Don't Want You”. Is this TRUE?

Despite Japan re-opening its borders for foreign tourists again, it’s been brought to my attention that *apparently* Japanese people don’t want these foreign tourists back in the country.
Is this really the case?
From my time living in Japan, the people have been some of the friendliest, most helpful, and most hospitable that I have ever met. So it really saddens me to hear and read comments that suggest otherwise.
Nevertheless, let’s take a look at some of these comments, recent news stories, and public opinions on why the Japanese people may not be so keen on the return of foreign visitors to their shores. And let’s try to determine just how common these thoughts are among the general population.

  1. Funnily, the fact that Japan closed down and got secluded so long also explains why they are so behind in their thinking. People around the world adopted quickly to the problems and wear masks, they also don’t need reminder of that. Right now, I feel like it’s actually Japan causing the issue for itself. I’m not saying there are no gaijins that would not follow rules although probably limited amount as it is now, and then we of course never talked of the Japanese not following rules or being careless when travelling to other countries.

  2. i do hope its not true i have no problem with the mask and at this time i have had 4 vaccinations what happens when japanese tourist go back home from visiting us here in uk

  3. Fun fact. They had 200k+ a day infections for weeks in August, without tourists…..

  4. I have already seen that clown who made the comment shown at the beginning of the video. I don't remember if it was in a comment section of a video of this channel or another channel also related with foreigners in Japan stuff…. Seemingly he had started some kind of crusade on his own against foreigners and on every ocasion he has, he just spit bile against everyone who disagree with the strong covid and border policies of Japan… His life must be fascinating and of course he claims to know how the rest of the people think and feel, coincidentally just as the way he does.

Don't pay the attention to that unhappy dude, of course some people in the country may think like him, but a lot of people is still going on with this covid stuff due to peer pressure and they wish going back to normal life like precovid times, so foreigners maybe will help with that normalization of the daily lives. So don't bother guys, if you want to come to Japan just go, fuck that idiot.

  5. Oh my gosh that's horrible for someone to say! I wanna cry, I love and respect Japan and the Japanese culture so much. Yes I'm a white American. But thanks to Sailor Moon I have learned alot about Japan and the culture. I educate myself on verses things to do and not to do in Japan. I watch Sharla in Japan. She gose by Sharmeleon now, but I think it's important to educate yourself before you go visit another country. I have disabilities. But if I ever get the chance to go to Japan. I will do my best to go by the rules. Yes I will wear a mask and use hand sanitizer. I actually even do that now so that wouldn't be much of a difference. I wear house shoes in the house or slippers. I'm easily to get sick with my low immune system. But that's sad I learned alot , heck it took me over 20 years but I can use chop sticks. When I go to a restaurant, I remember what sharla and others have said where to rest your chop sticks and how to place them when your done eating.

  6. I love it! They hate us inside, but must make an effort and smile, because their economy is going down. Smile and bow my Japanese friend, I am now an honored guest… 😄

  7. I’m going to Korea instead of Japan. I don’t know if they’ll be overly happy to see my foreign face but at least they opened up a while back so maybe it’ll be better. Asian people and their mask wearing fetish is crazy. Yes, it will reduce the spread of all viruses. Does that mean people should always wear masks in all circumstances? They could argue that all tourists should always wear masks but it’s ok for locals not to. Well, I don’t want to visit a place like that.

  8. Japanese are hurting itself from confusion. Two years gone by and they cant learn a thing. Despite first world country, their culture of social pressure can be categorized as third world country.

  9. To be honest with you, Japanese people don’t want anyone to be there who isn’t Japanese.

  10. Wherever I go I try to follow the rules of those countries, it’s only normal and in Japan I will follow all the rules needed.

But after the failure that was the COVID policy of Japan, with borders closed and a rampaging virus everywhere, can’t they realize that us foreigners are not the cause and source of contagion?

Viruses don’t care about that idiocy and it always finds a way.

  11. It's easy to just put on a mask when asked to. Also, I think Japan might relax their mask wearing rules again soon, when more tourists start pouring in.
Although, I think everyone will be wearing masks again once flu season starts!

  12. Your title is misleading and so negative. You could've just made the title to say "Let's be safe, and have fun in Japan" or something positive like that.
And, quoting a YT user as a general consensus for the Japanese public is simply wrong…
I like your style of the videos you make, but PLEASE do not use click baiting, your content is amazing enough without them.
    Thank you sharing either way.

  13. Good luck trying to get American tourists to Japan to wear masks. Are you kidding?! We can't get them to wear masks!! LoL
