This walk starts at Neuer Markt in the city center. Neuer Markt is one of the oldest squares in Vienna. The buildings have the character of representative town houses. For many years this place was a construction site because a parking garage was built underground. Incidentally, the entire history of the project goes back more than 20 years. At that time, the first plans for an underground car park appeared. Local merchants, on the other hand, were up in arms: they feared years of construction work. Support came from traffic planners like Hermann Knoflacher, who warned of additional traffic in the center. After Neuer Markt I take a walk through parts of Vienna’s inner city. The weather cooperated really well and it was a lovely walk.

    Saw it for myself just over a week ago. Really want to see it completed. Enjoyed a few breakfasts at Oberlaa on the corner. It was great to be back after four years. Got the biggest hug of my life in another venue from a waitress we know. Can’t wait to return.
