Japan’s newest shinkansen! Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen to Nagasaki Livestream! / 西九州新幹線「武雄温泉 – 長崎」開通!

(日本語は下部にあります)Join us LIVE on a media preview ride of Japan’s newest shinkansen to Nagasaki City. We’ll start on the Kamome Express from Saga City to the new Takeo-onsen Station, where we will transfer onto the new Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen (official start on Sep. 23). This is the very latest Japanese bullet train technology, the N700S, with tilt technology, and lithium-ion batteries – and a stylish interior by renowned industrial designer Eiji Miooka. The 30 minute ride will take us through five stations: Takeo-onsen, Ureshino-onsen, Shin-Omura, Isahaya, and get off at Nagasaki. Passengers save about 30 minutes on a journey from Hakata compared to the current Kamome Express.

After we disembark at Nagasaki City, we’ll walk through the new station and surrounding buildings, including, Dejima-Messe, Hilton Nagasaki, and more. Join us to catch up on all the recent developments in Nagasaki City as it rides this once-in-a-century boom in development.

  1. Missed the live, watching the replay now. The design of the train and the wood seats are quite stylish!

  2. I don't think that I have ever seen a building, the new Nagasaki Station, resemble an artist's rendering of a pre-construction design like that before. It was spot on.

  3. Wow, what a treat! Thanks Nick and Emiko! I love it! you must have had the best media coverage of the event! Something special and magical about Shinkansen, the solid and secure feel, the sounds, civility and scenery are unlike any other train, or any other way to travel.
Nick and Emiko San, did you ride the original 100 Shinkansen sires? While not as advanced and quiet I loved it as it provided a unique feel of a train but and aircraft near it's limits but under control. The larger picture windows offered a more spectacular view, and you could feel the pressure wave of a passing train and tunnels as the window resisted the pressure.

Your press car reminded me of a similar inaugural trip I took from Tokyo to Fukuoka back in the 80's on a spanking new double-deck 200 Sires "New Shinkansen" inaugural trip I took from Tokyo to Fukuoka back in the 80's. I had a Green Car ticket and they handed out special pins and cards and bento lunches. The most memorable trip I can recall.

  4. I used to live in Japan but not live in Australia.
Japan feels like future compared to Melbourne, Australia in terms of trains and cleanliness. Shinkansen Train stations in Japan are nicer than Airports here

  5. The new Nagasaki station and surrounding developments are utterly ghastly. Souless globalism laid bare. Just blandness designed to process groups of humans from A to B like ants in an airport.
Be careful Japan, war is being waged on your unique traditions, style and culture. The global vision is to make your cities as bland, uniform and non descript as any other in the western world.
Hey but the Starbucks will taste the same, the Marriot Hotel will feel the same and the Macdonalds will be the same.
The same global soup culture everywhere.
Weren't we meant to celebrate diversity?

  6. The luxurious atmosphere in the train is felt….so the journey must be very pleasant….

There are beautiful natural scenery….which can be enjoyed from inside the train…
