As I myself am working for a bank in the IT sector, it sounds totally crazy to me, how those banks in Japan operate 🙂
I mean we do a lot of bullshit, too. Sometimes because our government forces us and sometimes because mangement thinks this is good for business 😂
Also something to be considered is that in Japan because the buildings are torn down and re-built every 30 years, people do not spend a lot of money on maintenance or expensive renovations the way we do in the west.
VERY EXPENSIVE!!
Kyde the shark bahahah 🙂
15:20 Eric perfectly summarizes the housing crisis!
jeez, so selling your land is like launching a nuke?
May I ask if you negotiated purchase, loans all in Japanese? or use an english speaking realtor and loan broker?
I understand now about my fellow Aussie Emil..
did you check noise at night?
First off, congratulations. The contrast between the Japanese way of doing things, and the North American way is always interesting. One question, was there originally an older home on these lot(s) that was demolished, and replaced by two new homes, or was it otherwise vacant land that was developed?
Love how you guys storytell the adventures of your life – from the exciting to the seemingly mundane. I've always loved your videos but haven't got around to supporting you on Patreon – I will soon!
One question – if you were to rent out your house, what would someone pay for rent per month? Excluding those other costs like key costs, insurance etc.
From your videos I get the sense that renters get the short end of the stick in Japan given homes are relatively cheap (I come from Sydney, Australia where it's stupid expensive) compared to the cost of renting. I wonder if this is because landlords can charge an extravagant amount for rent for whatever reason and gain a high rental yield?
5,000 down? I bought a house in Japan. I had to put 50,000 usd down . I have about the same interest rate. Only difference is my loan is 25 year loan. And I pay a lot less per month. Congratulations on your house.
Hey! Thanks for being yourselves, as always. I sincerely wish you all the best in your new crib. And one more time, congrats on popping the house's cherry! 😉Cheers!
I have a question: If property goes down in value and appreciates in land, how are people investing in heritage buildings which are 200 or 300 years old? Wouldn’t the depreciation of this building be going down at an accelerating rate?
This video is extremely useful. Thank you for spending the time to provide the information. I have three more years before applying for my permanent residence. I also do appreciate the video you put out for that too.
you have answered all of my questions, very interesting
Happy wishes for your new home owner life.
Good health
Never been to Japan, but your videos are super fun and informative.
Honestly, I agree with you about not caring about losing value on the house. Not only is $1100 super cheap, it’s also fixed. So it’s just going to be cheaper and cheaper as time goes on relative to prevailing rents.
How excited to have your own place. I am following your journey and this is a great news. Best wishes to you both ♥️
Congratulations on the epic journey in your house purchase. I use tachikawa station too,be well!
All this negativity , I feel bad for ur neighbors and japan employs these Karan and Ken, you think u guys are smarter and better just live with it and respect it. All you had to say it was an ordeal. Ur a foreigners it's their way not ur way ok.
Does the possibility of higher interest rates on the mortgage scare you in any ways?
We loved the detail here – brilliant splitting the tour with the in-depth story of the process into 2 videos.
