Cycling Across Hokkaido – SHIKOTSU-TOYA NATIONAL PARK

I have to be honest, I was pretty worried about this day. I didn’t think I could physically make it, especially after the second day of challenging climbs. Well, I was wrong. I don’t know if I overestimated the route’s difficulty or underestimated myself (which happens quite often).
For the first few kilometers legs felt stiff, but I took it easy, the views on the road were just incredible, I was on this mountain road, surrounded by farmland, hills, and natural hot springs. It was surreal.
The “though climb” turned out to be just a climb, and by the second hour I was cycling I felt strong and fit, dopamine was pumping in my brain, I was breathing fresh air and everything felt in place.
I have to be honest, the road between Toya Lake and Shikotsu Lake is one of the highlights of this trip.

See you next week.
