水俣市チェリーライン（みなまたしちぇりーらいん）は、熊本県南部の八代海に面した湯の児温泉から、海岸に沿って和田岬公園を経由し大崎鼻公園に至る道沿いに続く桜並木で、「日本さくら名所100選」に選定されています。

水俣市チェリーラインは、熊本県南西部に位置し、天草諸島を望む海に面した道路沿いに続く桜並木で「日本さくら名所100選」に選定されています。
チェリーラインの海岸部は、入り江が複雑に入り組んだリアス式海岸で、その沿岸に続く約５kmの道路に500本の桜が植えられ、紺碧の海と桜の見事なコントラストが楽しめます。

チェリーライン沿いにはいくつか公園もあり、桜と海を望むピクニックや散策も楽しめます。
また、桜の開花期間の土日には「海上花見船」も運航され、海から眺めるひと味違ったお花見もできます。

チェリーラインの北側には「湯の児温泉」があり、海に面して旅館が14軒ほど建つ温泉街となっており、洞窟風呂やほら穴風呂などの露天風呂も楽しめます。

夕刻のチェリーラインもオススメです。天草諸島の手前に広がる八代海は、九州本土と天草諸島に囲まれた内海で、夏の夜に蜃気楼の一種である不知火(しらぬい)が見られ、別名「不知火海」とも呼ばれます。

水俣チェリーラインは「桜」と「海」と「日没」を見られる希少な場所です。
チェリーラインの例年の桜の見頃は3月下旬で、日没後は海風もあり、かなり冷え込みます。
そんな時はぜひ温泉に浸かって温まってください。

Cherry Line in Minamata City is located in the southwestern part of Kumamoto Prefecture, facing the sea with a view of the Amakusa Islands and has been selected as one of the “100 Best Places for Cherry Blossoms in Japan.
The coastal part of the Cherry Line is a deeply-indented coastline with intricate inlets and bays, and about 5 km of roads along the coastline are lined with 500 cherry trees, creating a beautiful contrast between the azure sea and the cherry blossoms.

There are several parks along the Cherry Line, where you can enjoy a picnic or a walk overlooking the cherry blossoms and the sea.
On weekends, during the cherry blossom season, you can take a cruise on a boat to see the cherry blossoms from the sea.

On the north side of the Cherry Line is Yunoko Onsen, a hot spring town with 14 inns facing the sea, where you can enjoy open-air baths such as the cave and cave baths.

The Cherry Line in the evening is also recommended. The Yatsushiro Sea, which spreads out in front of the Amakusa Islands, is an inland sea surrounded by the Kyushu mainland and the Amakusa Islands, where Shiranui, a type of mirage, can be seen at night in summer, and is also known as the Shiranui Sea.

The Minamata Cherry Line is a rare place where you can see “cherry blossoms”, “the sea” and “the sunset”.
The cherry blossoms at Cherry Line are usually at their best in late March, and it is quite cold after sunset due to the sea breeze.
At such times, please take a dip in the hot spring to warm up.
