Gion Kashiwazaki Festival Sea Fireworks Festival:
This festival is one of the Echigo Big Three Fireworks Festivals, known as the Kashiwazaki of Sea, Nagaoka of River, and Katakai of Mountain festivals. Only at this preeminent Japan Sea fireworks festival can one hear the thundering successive explosions of 300 shakudamas and the bursting of 100 powerful shakudamas in rapid succession. Also very popular are the submerged aerial starmines displays, sponsored by local citizens and businesses, which are beautifully illuminated on the water surface. Around 15,000 fireworks are launched every year on July 26, despite what the day of the week may be.

Highlight 1: Undersea Star Mine
It is said that the Kashiwazaki Fireworks Festival, which can only be done in Kashiwazaki, is a grand stage of the sea and the sky, when Yasaka Shrine in Kashiwazaki, which descended from Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto, launched fireworks at its festival.

From the end of the Edo period to the Meiji, Taisho, Showa, and Heisei eras, it has been loved by citizens as a summer tradition of Kashiwazaki.

In recent years, there have been new highlights such as the simultaneous launch of 100 shakudama shots and the 300 shakudama shots in rapid succession.

Among them, the underwater star mine that spreads out on the surface of the sea is very popular.

Highlight 2: 100 shakudama shots at the same time
100 shakudama, 1,500 meters in length, are launched all at once from the west breakwater of the central wharf. The 100 fireworks that bloom all at once in the sky are truly inspiring.

Highlight 3: 300 barrage of raging shakudama
Against the backdrop of the vast Sea of ​​Japan, 300 shakudama are continuously launched from right to left to center. The brightly colored fireworks blooming in the sky are powerful, lasting about 6 minutes.
