As the title suggests, Japan’s government released a Japan Travel update to tourism today, and it is BIG NEWS! It was such good news, I didn’t believe it, and I CALLED Japan’s Tourist Travel Agency directly to get the truth straight from the source. I have to say, I was very surprised with the answers I got… and it wasn’t a bad thing!! Check out the video to see what I mean!

This travel agency fiasco makes no sense!
The prime minister of Japan declared that all triple vaccinated travelers could come to japan without a particular test while he was at home with covid after being triple vaxxed.
This is no good if one has booked flights and accomodation already. And flights are way more expensive compared to when I booked it.

I booked my flight through airlines miles and hotels through agoda. This is bad news for me.

Many travel agents in UK are not taking bookings to Japan anymore. 1 that did want £7,000 for 14 days (this isn't a tour package, just return flight and hotel) plus you have to go Japan embassy with passport, passport size photo, application form and document from travel agent to prove your booked via an agent to get visa costing £20-£40.

I'm just gonna wait for the visa waiver to take effect, and for them to downgrade the catagory for Covid, until that happens, I'm not even going to bother going to Japan.
You still have to tell the travel agency where you plan to go. It's not fully open still. Don't fall for it

While this is optimistic news, the travel agency process is a little complicated in my opinion. But, we just got to wait maybe a teeny tiny bit longer and I still believe Japan will reopen fully before the end of the year.
Travel agencies take a giant cut, and they also double the price for hotel bookings as per the quotation I received from a japanese travel agency. This is still ridiculous…

What about just letting those who need to transit through Japan between Haneda and Narita airport? We have JAL tickets booked that we are waiting to use, just set up some buses to take passengers back and forth between the airports already.

Booking flight and accommodations thru travel agency is still a hassle. They tend to only have expensive options. Booking airbnbs allows freedom to go anywhere and at different locations hassle free. I hope this doesn’t take off for them.
