How to Travel Like a Local in Japan | Naruto | Where Tourists Aren’t



Vacations are great and being a tourist is fine. But what if you want to go deeper? To go to secret places not listed in tourist guides or to experience more of the local area, you need a local to guide you. This video will take you on a journey completely different from the typical Japan trip you’ve ever had.
This year we spent our family summer vacation in Naruto, Tokushima, Japan, and an old friend of Moto’s guided us around for four days, and we had a great time. We went to an udon restaurant with no tourists and visited a farmhouse that has been in existence for over 100 years. At the house they taught us their local cuisine and then we went to see their lotus root fields.

    Thank you for this video Moe-san, I know it must be hard traveling with a child but these are exactly the kind of sights/places I love learning about in Japan. Of course, the larger famous cities are wonderful, too but there is something so incredible about the food in these smaller towns. I hope you and Moto-san can share more local insights into other places on Shikoku island (especially around TheMana village!)

    Wow! Such an amazing place. That place is just like that from a studio gibly movie. Sutan got a big sister. Sutan and iro chan were like mie chan and satsuki. They are both kawai. That bathroom was really like that from my neighbour totoro.
