After a brief return home to the UK from my 6-week backpacking trip around Europe, I’m off again ✈️ This time, to Toronto, Canada, my first ever time ever in the country πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Two of my friends Courtney and Jamie (from my New Zealand working holiday visa nearly SIX years ago) are getting married and so the whole NZ crew are back together to take Toronto by storm.

FAQ’s
How do you afford to travel? – I now earn a full time living through creating these YouTube videos, affiliate links, selling digital products and my clothing line. I used to simply just work any temporary job I could find to save up to travel! I budget the money I earn meticulously to reach my savings goals using https://www.backpackingbananas.com/product-page/life-budget-tracker-uk-self-assessment-version
Is travelling solo safe? – I would argue the answer is almost always yes! As long as you use your common sense and you follow your own government’s guidelines about travelling in that country. I have made several videos on backpacking safety on my channel.
Do you have plans to settle down? Yes, I’m currently saving to purchase my first property in the UK and I’d love to have children one day. I doubt I’ll ever live a completely ‘conventional’ lifestyle by society’s standards though, as I often have my own preferred way of doing things.

  1. maple syrup, poutine, it is potatoes with sauce, amazing gastronomy from a 10 milions of squared kilometers country.

  2. Hope you had a good time in our country.
About the flight north vs on the parallel, the reason is that contrary to popular belief the Earth is not a perfect sphere, like an orange, it is actually an ellipsoid, squashed at its poles and swollen at the equator, like a clementine. That is why it is a shorter distance to go north vs following the parallel.

  3. Just finished a year working in Canada! It’s my favourite country I’ve ever been to! If you get the chance, head to Quebec City, or do the rockies in the west and Vancouver!! I fell in love with Canada this year 🍁

  4. Welcome to the Great White North! πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ 🍁 It's long overdue. While there's plenty if cool.things to see and do in Toronto itself, since you're so close, you & your friends should try to get down to Niagara Falls. It's only about 100 miles from T.O. Have fun at the wedding and enjoy the rest of your trip in Canada!

  5. Enjoy your time in Canada. I assume you are staying in Toronto the whole time. Great city. I live near Toronto and you will enjoy it.

  6. Canada doesn't really have a budget international airline. They're all almost exactly the same price.

  7. Hiii! I’m on a 3 week backpacking trip in Ontario and Quebec right now! Honestly three to four days in Toronto is enough to see it al.. apt. 200 was nice for going out for drinks. I would highly recommend visiting Quebec (1 hour by plane), it has a lot of history and is so beautiful! We took WAY more pictures in Quebec than in Toronto and overal had a better time there πŸ™‚

  8. I backpacked solo from coast to coast this year and it was so much fun!! Met so many kind people, and saw some pretty pretty views.

  9. Omg I loved seeing my city, my country on your channel! Come back soon and explore more! X

  10. My mom made me watch E.T. with her recently πŸ€ͺ but it was honestly so cute πŸ₯°πŸ₯Ή (editing to say it was one of the airplane choices 🀣 anyway, recommend)

  11. Be careful drinking our beer, it's delicious but much stronger Hahaha watch out for the alcohol percentages!

  12. Hope you had fun!! "Eh" is more of a rural/smalltown thing. It comes from Britain, where "eh" is also used, although not so much in London. πŸ™‚

  13. Hopefully, you get a chance to try some of the amazing restaurants in Toronto. Toronto has many great options besides the traditional Canadian traditional dishes. I recommend Pai Northern Tai restaurant or Byblos Turkish restaurant as a few options. There are several wineries outside of the Toronto GTA area. The ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) is one of the best museums in Canada. For live music, the Reservoir Lounge in downtown is a great place to visit as well. Hope you have fun!
