Rick Steves’ Europe Travel Guide | The Highlands stoke kilted dreams of Scotland…where legends of Bonnie Prince Charlie swirl around lonely castles. We visit the “Weeping Glen” of Glencoe, bustling Inverness, and the battlefield at Culloden. Then we’ll make a pilgrimage to the spiritual capital of a major clan, and go prehistoric at Stone Age burial grounds and Iron Age island forts. Venturing along the Caledonian Canal and watching for Nessie at Loch Ness, we work up an appetite for modern Scottish cuisine and enjoy traditional folk music. 5. I love Scotland…especially the highlands…I went to an island not far from Inverness and we had to use a boat to get to it way out in a big loch…absolutely magical

  6. I hope 🤞 Scottish highlanders remember to be careful because the highlands can be steep and rocky.

  10. No, actually, that is not the Highlands where that label is on the map.
The Highlands are not in the North, The Highlands are in the Northwest.

  11. From Canada & have toured Scotland 3 times. In April 2019 we scattered my wifes Scottish Moms ashes at Dunrobin Castle then toured The Highlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow etc. Had our 53RD Anniversary while there & had a terrific time. 3 restaurants & 2 hotels gave us free comps when we mentioned it was our anniversary trip!! EG: 2 free breakfasts, 2 classes of champagne, bottle of wine, truffles, desserts etc The Glasgow hotel gave us a violin case full of numerous snacks & beverages. AWESOME & FRIENDLY VISIT.
