While the snow removal equipment is impressive, IMHO the snow removal operation is even more so. To put things into perspective, during a snow event yesterday our east airfield taxiway and runway teams plowed, swept and sanded 3 taxiways, 11 high speed connectors (one of which being a major high-speed; major=greater length), 3 runways which are 150' wide by 12,000' long and 1 cross-field taxiway in just 1 hour. That time included a 15 minute wait for 7 aircraft to land. This was all while aircraft were landing and taxiing to the apron. Talk about a choreographed dance!
I do the same thing for cle hopkins airport. We have several different makes of multi-purpose runway snow removal trucks. We got 6 new MB 5's this year. Getting more next year.
