  1. Re. Delays and cancellations, I once went overland in a day from Berlin to Manchester. Within 30 mins of leaving Berlin encountered a delay which eventually meant missing onward connection from Cologne. With time now critical resulted to further local in the absolute middle of nowhere to get to Brussels as soon as possible and eventually onward connection to London and Manchester. Frankly loved the variety….ICE, Eurostar and Pendelino can all feel quite similar

  2. I love how everyone is talking about their bad experiences🤣 so I'm gonna do the same:
Was traveling from Aix les Bains in the French Alps to Brest via Lyon Part Rieu, Rennes and Saint Brieuc, and most are regional trains except from Lyon to Rennes which was served by a Euroduplex of TGV inOui, and about 1h from the destination, the LGV atlantique basically had issues and all the trains on it including mine, was delayed, so ended up with 1h30min delay and missed my next trains, but luckily did hop on the next one and since my stop at Saint Brieuc was quite long, at about 2h, I took the train that was going to Saint Brieuc 1h after and so ended up arriving at Brest on time

  3. I don't understand why the Zurich office was not able to book your place on the final segment of the trip. Normally, they can issue tickets for travel on any scheduled train. Additionally, taking the train all the way to Chiasso might have opened up additional options for travel in Italy other than the SBB-FS Tilo one, as the Trenitalia High Speed offerings may have been running from the border.
I also recommend that travellers who are not pressed for time take one of the trains which run on the original route, as the scenery is much more impressive than the tunnel.
That said, thanks for the video.

  4. Make sure to check with your ticketing office about options other than Trenitalia. You may be able to travel by Italo between Milano and Bologna. Also specifically ask about Frecciarossa and other services of TI (Trenitalia).

  5. I do like the impressive signal box(?) over the railway lines at Milan and I also see Bologna has one too. It must be an Italian one design fits all job.

  6. Interesting video and you can always depend on you for a ‘bog standard’ toilet review…

  7. Ah Trenitalia. Got stuck in Venice once, when I turned up for a sleeper train to Munich at midnight to an empty SMN station, only to find out there was a National train strike that night. There were no announcements or signs during the day warning passengers.

  8. I recently travels from Amsterdam to Zürich via Frankfurt with DBs ICE trains. however out of the 2 scheduled trains 4 where late. this is because the first train (Amsterdam-Frankfurt) only took me to Düsseldorf. I arrived there with 20min delay and had to find a connecting train to Frankfurt, this train arrived with 10min Delay in Frankfurt.
The second train (Frankfurt-Zürich) then canceled halfway thru the journey the last two Stops (Basel SBB and Zürich HB) and I had to change in Basel Bad Bf with a 20min delay. and because the entire ICE had to use the regional train, the train had a 5min Delay in Basel SBB. there I had to change to an Inter Regio to Zürich HB)

  9. Nobody has commented about it, but the reason the staff was yelling and "being rude" at the Milano Centrale station is because there was a risk of the glass ceiling falling down.
You were probably distracted and didn't notice the warning signs and that guy simply scolded you saying you could have died and got you moving in the right direction

  10. I’ve never (knock wood) had an issue with train or plane here in America, but do feel you about those in charge yelling at travelers. A conductor on an Empire train either departing from Albany to NYC or returning from NYC to Albany, NY really wanted us to be sure we were not hogging seats unnecessarily (bags, legs or suitcases). Seinfeld’s Soup Nazi, may have had nothing on this conductor.

  11. I've just been using the Rock trains between Verona and Venice. They're pretty good for a regional train, and I love the design, but the air conditioning was rather strong and we all felt cold sitting in them in the height of the summer.

  12. I was once on a train from Howden to York when in Selby the conductor told everyone to get off at Selby, but some people remained on the train even after we had Al got off, so we had to get another train from Selby to York (a pacer) and when we arrived in York we saw our original train and the people who didn't get off in Selby were getting off in York
