Arashiyama is a district full of tourists located in the far west of Kyoto. This place is popular destination during cherry blossoms and fall seasons. The main street of Arashiyama, along with the famed Togetsu-kyo Bridge, is a well known central landmark for its beautiful, much-beloved wooden structure.
Cycling through rural residential areas and past fields while traveling between temples can be one of the most enjoyable parts of a visit to Arashiyama. Cormorant fishing is also practiced on the Hozu River for tourist During the summer months. Another good time to visit Arashiyama is during December’s Hanatoro illumination where lanterns line in the streets and bamboo groves.
An enjoyable visit to Arashiyama should be planned for a half or full day to take in the sights and not feel rushed through the idyllic setting.
