It all burned

Everything around us is ephemeral, even if sometimes it doesn’t feel like it. I’ve taken for granted many places in the past, just to see them gone due to natural disasters; especially wildfires. A big fire burnt some of the landscapes I was photographing not even 3 months ago. Familiar spots, gone; favorite trees, burnt to the ground. But life will come back, changed.

  1. I had never seen the beauty in such destruction until your video. I don't know what caused that fire but many here are preventable since they were caused by people being careless in the woods. It will take a while but. nature will come back.

  2. Your images are outstanding as always, but it's the videography that impresses me the most this time. An apocalyptic masterpiece. Did you use a drone for the camera moves in the burned woods ?

  4. Superb! At first, I thought this was California. But wildfires are everywhere these days.

  5. A beautiful documentary. Thank You for sharing. Always a pleasure to view your posts. Change is the only constant we can count on.

  6. Wow. That was breathtaking. I love that in all your despair, you kept the positivity, that life will come back again. Seems to me that you now have a long term photography project!

  7. It seems no country in Europe that gets fires almost every year is getting spared this year. We have had some pretty bad ones down here in the district of Vila Real in Portugal. The saddest part is that most are either due to negligence or down right set on purpose . Ironic that such devastation can show such beauty also. Very nice video and images, Adrian.

  8. Nice video as usual, but I must say… this was the first time I wished you've edited your photos in color. Maybe that could emphasize even more the eerie feeling we get when we see these scenes…

  9. Such a beautiful video Adrian and I love your minimalistic images. Shame that this style of image-making and videography doesn't get the attention flashier ones do, but keep on making them like this.

  10. I've been in many forests that burned. The life returns very quickly and it is inspiring to see the green growth and the animal and insect life. This is how it has been for millions of years.
