Nikko (日光) is one of those places in Japan that you have to visit when you are fortunate enough to be here during the season of Autumn.

In fact, Nikko and Autumn Leaves, in Japanese known as Kouyo (紅葉), is a must go to place however, traversing the area can be a little daunting especially if it is your first time to the area or if your Japanese ability isn’t strong.

Have no fear however, Nikko is a tourist friendly destination with lots to see and it is highly advisable that if given the opportunity, stay overnight at one of the local Ryokan’s and really get that taste of Japanese world class hospitality.

But if you’re watching this, just like us, you only have a day trip to spare and so, equipped with a license, we have this guide for you especially if you are time scarce.

From Lake Chuzenji, the waterfalls at Kegon and Ryuzu, the winding roads of Irohazaka and of course, the surrounds of the Toshugu Shrine – we have you covered.

Check this guide for more information.
