Here we are at 40 degrees C but humidity is only 50%, so I am not going out at all but walk with you virtualy along the sunny Tokyo streets. Please take care you, too, because of such high humidity.
I would recomend drinking of isotonic drinks because by drinking only water for hydratation the necessary body minerals might be diluted and so cause body disbalance. Of course you are young and fit but better be careful. By the way it is really unpleasant if sweat gets into eyes

In Istanbul, people will look at you a bit funny if you are still wearing your mask, because people don't wear masks anymore in Turkey indoors & outdoors. Also it is very hot summer & masks are just difficult to wear. Women are walking around without bras & nobody even looks at them. But if you are wearing a mask, then people will look at you. ๐

I don't understand why you pushed staying in that apartment (hard-headed??) Just on the onset you already had troubles/problems with it. For all you know, it was left by the previous occupants because of that You said the drain improved but mind you, it's a matter of time before it gets cranky again. Well, suit yourself, but for me I don't like unnecessary stress and concern. Instead of moving to a home to relax & nothing to worry about, you're expending more & another birth of expenses – you have to change wallpapers? As my parents taught me even in my professional career, don't create problems that shouldn't be there or expend unnecessarily. Be smart to accept when to go to alternative plans.
Great stream Rion I really hope your smelly room improves , I can sympathize with you on this , I've experienced a Japanese hotel with this problem , even though it was visibly very clean , the building was old and I suspect it had an outdated plumbing system , then I experienced it again in an Australian hotel , again it was an older hotel and the cleanliness was outstanding but I couldn't stop the smell coming up through the drain ๐ luckily that one was only one night , please keep us updated on the smell I truly wish it goes

Rionโฆare you still having trouble with the drain and smells? Put, Warm water and a bit of baking soda in a bucket of water. Wipe down all walls, cabinets, doors, floors, bathroom, closet,etc. when done, pour this water down the drain. The smell could be coming from the drainage pipes. Go to Daiso and buy a drain cover. Keep it covered and the tub drain closed, unless you are bathing. Close and cover sink drains, too, when not in use. Now, use a clean bucket of baking soda and water, clean the fridge, etc. again, pour down the bathroom floor drain. Japan is notorious for cockroaches and summer bugs. Keeping these covered and buying/placing roach bait in all the corners will help. If you can put coffee if a bowl in the main room and your fridge. It will absorb odors. I didnโt get to hear if it was furnished or not. If it is, wash all the bedding, futons, etc,get a new pillow, wipe down all the furniture. If you can, buy new bedding. You can use Lysol, baking soda, to wipe down tables and chairs, bathroom,etc. also youโll need to get those dehumidifier jars and place them inside the closets and room. Excited for you. Ps. Ask your landlord if they will supply a mattress cover. It fits over the mattress and you zip it closed. It will protect you from others germs. Then buy a mattress pad for a more comfortable bed.
