In a lesser traveled region of Gifu Prefecture, you’ll find the small town of Hida Furukawa. The buildings of the old town are lovingly restored Edo period (17th to 19th century) woodwork. For a town renowned for its local carpenters, that’s no surprise! Small wooden bridges over small canals with lovely wooden lanterns only add to the atmosphere. So serene!
