On October 25, 2009 at the final round of the Championship at Portimão, he was crowned the 2009 Superbike World Champion as a rookie after winning Race 1 and taking fifth place in Race 2. It was an unforgettable season and an incredible moment for us both before we both moved on to working full-time in the MotoGP championship.”
