It’s the stuff of fantasy books and magical movies. Also known as Kagami Pond, this natural phenomenon can be seen for just two weeks from late May to early June near the top of Mt Hachimantai, between Iwate and Akita Prefectures. As summer approaches the snow starts to melt, leaving an island of snow in the centre which resembles the eye of a dragon. Would you like to see it?β
