What’s this tiny island with a torii gate on it all about? ⛩🏮
Yomegashima is found in the center of Lake Shinji in Shimane Prefecture. The lanterns lighting the torii gate at dusk give it a truly eerie atmosphere. The trees and vegetation are very well-tended, adding to the island’s scenic air. Sightseeing boats are common on Lake Shinji’s waters, so it’s easy to get a close look at everything Yomegashima has to offer!
Fair warning, though. You can’t go for a walk on the island except during very special occasions.
