Visiting NARA PARK for CHERRY BLOSSOMS and DEERS| Spring in Japan| 奈良公園

Nara Park (奈良公園, Nara Kōen) is truly a great place to visit if you come to Kansai area. It’s one of the oldest parks in Japan which was established in 1880’s. The entire park is about 660 hectares (1,600 acres). Pretty massive!

In and around the park, there are many famous temples, shrines, museums, and national treasures. One of them is the Todai-ji Temple, known for its 15m (49’2″) high Buddha.

But what sets this place apart from the rest of Japan is the myriad of free-roaming deers, which would delight any visitors to Nara. While it’s fun to feed them with the deer crackers, do it with caution as they can get really aggressive. And remember never to tease them with food else you’ll surely get attacked.

So, I hope you enjoy this video of Nara in spring and it’d entice you to visit this amazing place when you come to Japan. Do come and visit when you can!

How to reach Nara:
From Kyoto Station, take the Miyakoji Rapid Train. It’ll take less than 50 minutes to reach JR Nara Station.
Once you reach Nara, take the #2 bus and get off right in front of Nara Park. If you prefer to walk, it takes roughly about 20 minutes.
