The kakigori served at Tokyo’s ‘Icho no Ki’ cafe is so popular it’s available all year round! 🍧 From the traditional strawberry and green tea to more unusual flavours such as maple hazelnut, caramel banana pie or hydrangea (pictured – a mix of matcha cream, mint powder, roasted green tea syrup and cornflakes) – they offer a large variety of seasonal flavoured shaved ice and toppings. Prices are around ¥800 (approx $10) for a kakigori with toppings.
TOP TIP: Whilst it isn’t the easiest place to find, this cute cafe is worth hunting down for a tea break. It’s located in Kitashinagawa, (approx a 15 minutes a walk from Shinagawa station.) Look for the impressive ginkgo tree outside! Photo by @japancake_trip #VisitJapanAU
