The kakigori served at Tokyo’s ‘Icho no Ki’ cafe is so popular it’s available all year round! š§ From the traditional strawberry and green tea to more unusual flavours such as maple hazelnut, caramel banana pie or hydrangea (pictured – a mix of matcha cream, mint powder, roasted green tea syrup and cornflakes) – they offer a large variety of seasonal flavoured shaved ice and toppings. Prices are around Ā„800 (approx $10) for a kakigori with toppings.
TOP TIP: Whilst it isn’t the easiest place to find, this cute cafe is worth hunting down for a tea break. It’s located in Kitashinagawa, (approx a 15 minutes a walk from Shinagawa station.) Look for the impressive ginkgo tree outside! Photo by @japancake_trip #VisitJapanAU
