Sanibel Island is immediately South of Captiva Island just west of Fort Myers. It fronts the Gulf of Mexico on the west and Pine Island Sound on the east.

Captiva, North Capitiva, and Sanibel used to be joined until a severe hurricane divided them by creating a new channel to the Gulf known as Blind Pass.

Sanibel Island is justly famed for its sunsets, lighthouse and luxurious resorts.

By far, the most popular activity on Sanibel Island is shelling – you barely can walk a step on the beach without indulging in the so-called “Sanibel Stoop” to search for shells.
