Apple Picking in Japan | Apple Orchard | Apple Farm at Nagano | Fruit Picking in Japan | 吉田屋農園 ( Yoshidaya Farm) | 長野日本でりんご狩り
Nagano is known across Japan as the home of fruits and owes its success to some of the longest hours of sunlight in the country, mineral-rich volcanic soil and warm days with cool nights due to its high elevation.
Apples are the most famous of Nagano’s fruits with many varieties to choose from like the juicy San Fuji and the sweet Tsugaru. The season lasts from late-August to late-December which is unusually long for apples.
Eat-all-you-can fruit-picking in Japan is very popular. Go into the orchard, pay the entrance fee and pick as many fruits as you can eat. This popular even among international visitors, Nagano is a perfect place to try so you can enjoy fruit picking at its best.
Yoshidaya Farm in Tenryukyo, Minami Shinshu is a small apple farm run only by the family, and everyone enjoys “mail order (national shipping)” and “apple picking” of apples. From farm work to arranging delivery of ordered apples, all the work are handled by the family alone.
Yoshidaya Farm is putting the most effort into “delivering safe and secure apples”. They use as little pesticides as possible, avoid using chemical fertilizers, use organic fertilizers as much as possible, do not use any herbicides, and deliver apples that are safe to health. Weeds in rice fields and rice straw after harvesting are dried and applied to apple orchards to replace fertilizers.
