Tokyo National Museum is now marking its 150th year. Originally designed by English architect Josiah Conder, it houses thousands of homegrown artifacts, including Ryukyuan and Ainu items. It is “a gateway to Japanese culture” and a “face of Japan,” according to Masami Zeniya, director of Tokyo National Museum.
