Perched atop the Kanzan hilltop sits Chusonji Temple in Iwate Prefecture. This UNESCO World Heritage site was founded in 850 and pledged that all travellers, regardless of status would be warmly welcomed by the Buddhas and all would receive their blessings.
The Konjikido Golden Hall, completed in 1124, is the only structure which remains in its original form. Dedicated to the Buddha of Infinite Light, it’s covered with gold leaf inside and out. ✨
