Today I went to the 燕喜館(Enkikan) in Niigata City.
Enkikan is a facility in Hakusan Park in Chuo Ward, Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture. The building is a nationally registered tangible cultural property.
This is a relocation of the tatami room of the Saito family, a celebrity in Niigata at the end of the Edo period. Currently, it is located in Hakusan Park overlooking the lotus pond. The tatami room and its veranda are directed toward the pond and integrated with the garden to create a space with a sense of openness. Many famous trees are used inside the sukiya-style interior, and the fusuma paintings and banma are elaborate.
