Time to get your glow on! 🎇 Yokote Kamakura Festival in Yokote, Akita Prefecture is a truly wondrous spectacle. Dating back some 450 years, the festival was originally held to pray to the water deity for good health, business prosperity and plentiful harvests. 🙏🏻
The event features over 80 kamakura (igloo-like snow houses) where you can enjoy amazake and mochi, as well as a sea of mini kamukura illuminated by the soft glow of candlelight. 🕯️✨
Note: The festival has been cancelled this year but is usually held on 15-16 February each year.
