Trivia: I learned that Sanno-koji Dining Street has a very interesting nickname. They call it “Hell Valley”. A long time ago, when the streets were not paved with asphalt yet, people after drinking a lot of alcohol in bars on this street had a hard time climbing up the slope. When it rained it was even worse. They just couldn’t crawl up from the bottom of this valley. This is the reason they started calling it “Hell Valley”. Now that it’s completely paved with asphalt and there are even stairways there, I think it’s safe enough and there should be no problem getting out of this place, but imagining drunk people trying to crawl up the slope in the rain is just funny.
