Typically taking place in August, in Noshiro City, Akita Prefecture, ”Lantern Castle in the Sky,” is one of the most visually striking parades found in the country. It showcases Akita Prefecture’s unique culture in celebrating the nationwide Tanabata festival by featuring luminous and vivid giant lantern floats that can reach heights of 24.1 meters (80 feet)!
