Hello everyone,

In this video, I visit one of Japan’s most iconic cultural sites, Shirakawago. Shirakawago is a beautiful and almost perfectly preserved village in Gifu Prefecture. The Village itself is hidden away in a valley between two mountains, which allowed the village to remain so seemingly untouched by modern-day developments.
Walking around the quiet village truly feels like taking a trip back in time. But what makes this village so famous is the specially designed thatched roofs made to withstand the heavy snowfall the region gets. Nowhere else in Japan can you experience this style of architecture as well as so many of these houses congregated in one place.
