Bathed in dappled light, Eikando Temple offers a welcome respite from some of the busier big-name temples in the Higashiyama district of Kyoto. 🍁 Famous for its brilliant autumn colours, the temple is also home to an unusual Buddha statue with its head turned to the side rather than facing forwards. Take time to wander through the temple’s extensive grounds before heading on to explore the other treasures nearby.
📍 Eikando is a 5-minute walk from the nearest bus stop (Nanzenji-Eikando-michi) or a 15-minute walk from Keage Station on the Tozai Subway Line.
