周辺には、旧国鉄士幌線コンクリートアーチ橋梁群が点在していますが、特に代表的なコンクリートアーチ橋。季節により湖に沈んでしまう神秘性、美しいアーチが水面に綺麗な輪を映すことが有名です。
近年は崩落が進み、いつ美しいアーチが途切れるのか心配されていますが、自然の中の一部として見守りたいモノです。
近くに行くには、ツアーに参加をするか、今回のように十勝西部森林管理署東大雪支署にて糠平三股林道の鍵を借り、ゲートの鍵を自分で開閉して行くのが現実的です。
ゲートから橋梁までは、それなりの距離があり、ヒグマの生息地でもあるので「徒歩」で行くことはお薦めできません。
