Sakura, the famous Japanese Cherry Blossoms are known around the world and attract many tourists in March and April each year. However, what only few people know is that there is a different kind of Cherry Blossom in Japan that blooms a month earlier and is even more beautiful than the “real” Sakura.
Located in Kawazu, Shizuoka just a 3-hour ride away from Tokyo, this otherwise rural ocean city springs into action in late winter when crowds flock to the river to see the annual Kawazu Sakura Cherry Blossom Festival.
