The descent down into the scenic Takachiho Gorge in Miyazaki Prefecture features magnificent views of the sheer basalt column cliffs that make up the sides of the gorge. Once at the bottom, rental boats are available for a leisurely row through the calm waters and a close-up look at the 17 meters (55 feet) high Manai Falls. The waterfall next to the thick green leaves and grey dragon scale-like stones is an unquestionably impressive sight.
