See feudal Japan come alive in Fukushima’s Minami Soma City.⚔️🐎 For over 1000 years, the residents of this town have celebrated the Soma Nomaoi Festival – a local tradition that includes about 400 ‘samurai’ riders on horses adorned in traditional armour. The three-day festival includes horse races, samurai versions of ‘capture the flag’ and a brilliant procession through the town on horseback. Usually held in late July each year, it’s definitely an event to add to the list!
