What a location! ⛩😍 Perched high up on the cliffs overlooking the ocean in Naha, Okinawa sits Naminoue Shrine. This shrine plays an important role for seafarers and locals to pray to for a safe journey on the ocean, a rich haul of fish and a plentiful harvest.

The sacred clifftop shrine is also the main site for festivals and events, namely the Nanmin Festival in May, with many events such as the Okinawan Sumo Festival and Ryukyu Dance performance competition held around the same time.

FUN FACT: The Ryukyu King is said to have visited the shrine on behalf of his people every New Year, to pray for the peace and prosperity of the nation. #VisitJapanAU #Tradition
