Breathe in the fresh mountain air at Kamikochi – the jewel of Japan’s Northern Alps. ⛰ Take a stroll along the Azusa River or an extended trek in the mountains – there are countless ways to enjoy this alpine gem.
TOP TIP: Kamikochi is popular especially during Japan’s peak summer season over July-August and in October for its autumn foliage – if you keep walking up the river valley you will get to quieter spots in the busy times or you can opt for a day hike up nearby Mt Yakedake.
📍Access: Via public transport only as private cars aren’t allowed in Kamikochi. There are direct buses from several large cities including Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Nagano.
