Usually, the Yokote Kamakura Snow Festival would be happening in Yokote City, Akita Prefecture right now. ☃️❄️ With a 400-year-long history, this annual event features a hundred or so kamakura igloos where you can enjoy rice cakes, amazake and a sea of lantern-sized mini kamakuras.
📍Though not being held this year, the main festival area is usually in Komyoji Park in Yokote City, accessible by train from Akita Station. From Tokyo, take the JR Akita Shinkansen to Akita Station. Then take the JR Ou Main Line to Yokote Station, and board the shuttle bus for Shinmeicho. The park is a short walk from there. #VisitJapanAU #Tradition
