In search of Cherry Blossoms at UENO PARK
Taitō , Tokyo | Japan
APRIL 5, 2018—We just arrived in Japan a few hours ago. After settling into our AirBnB in Kawasaki City we decided that we possibly still have enough time to check out Ueno Park in Taitō to hopefully see the cherry blossoms. We just learned that the cherry blossom season is unusually short this year and it may actually end today already so we are racing against time.
The sun is almost down as we arrive at Ueno Station. We have to move fast. As we enter Ueno Park we learn that some of Japan’s best museum’s are right here. But we are not visiting the museums, not on this visit at least. They are not in the plan and we don’t have time to spare anyway. They may even be closed already. (It’s a shame to not visit the museums, however.)
It is a cool afternoon which is good for us as we need to move really fast. At least we won’t be sweating as we would have if we are in the Philippines.
We saw many cherry blossom trees along the way. Although they are still in bloom the diminishing sunlight does not make for very good photos.
And then we got to this imposing monument of a former imperial prince named Ikahito. Lucky for us there are several cherry blossoms in full bloom around it. And they are low hanging and still well lighted enough for some good-enough photographs.
Mission accomplished! And there is still enough sunlight left for us to leisurely walk around and enjoy Ueno park.
It is almost dusk now and the park morphs into something entirely different but equally beautiful with all those lighted orange lanterns hanging around. We’ll definitely come back to Ueno Park again, if ever we visit Tokyo again in the future.
This is a short video presentation of our very quick late afternoon visit to Ueno Park in Tokyo. Enjoy watching.
