Tachikawa is a residential district and a transportation hub located west of Tokyo, about 30 minutes from Shinjuku by express train. The area is served by the JR Chuo Line as well as the retro futuristic Tama monorail. Countless bus lines also connect to the station. Tachikawa is administered as its own city in Tokyo City, the population in 2020 is around 184,000 people.
